You publish a new social App to Google Play where PC and Console gamers can find each other. How would you go about growing the user base?
Hi there, based on my knowledge, here are some best methods to grow your app user base, including "black" and "white" methods, all of them are also availiable for ios apps.
Cooperate with influencers
Personally speaking, it's the one of the most effective ways to grow social app user base, because most people like to follow others and be influenced by the words of some celebrities or well-known business people. Developing honest, authentic, and mutually beneficial relationships with influencers will go a long way in helping to promote your app.
Build Word of mouth
Potentially the best way to get traction for your social app is through word of mouth. Not only does it create a viral effect, but people trust others to tell them about great discoveries - Most people give much more trust to their friends and families. So it is always recommended to promote your app with building word of mouth.
You can connect with your fans and customers on the other social channels they already partake in can do wonders for word-of-mouth marketing around your app. You can achieve it through the following methods:
Of course, you can invite the influencers share your activities.
Gather Positive Reviews
For a new app, the reviews are very important, because about 95% users would take reviews as an important reference factor to judge an app, and most people are tend to download an app which has much more positive reviews. You can gather positive reviews with the following methods:
Hope these methods are useful you.
Happy to chime in here. We support a wealth of gaming customers who are looking to grow their user base thru paid, earned, and organic UA. We generally recommend starting with social influencers and bloggers in the gaming vertical to create a substantial buzz of your product/game. For the paid media side, there are thousands of mobile networks that you can run CPI (cost per install) or CPE (cost per engagement) campaigns with for paid UA. Once you've started with your major players (Google, FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) there are several lessor known networks like Taptica, IronSource, Liftoff that drive quality installs/post install events . You will of course want a solid attribution provider in place to measure all of this data and analytics. That's were tools like Kochava come into play.

Hi friends, if you want to get more users, here are some methods which can help you.
Collaborate with celebrities
Most people like to follow others and be influenced by the words of some celebrities. Collaborate with these people can quickly build up your iOS apps’ identity and gain recognition in related fields. These people may include influential bloggers, newspaper journalists, and etc.
Get more app installs
Large amount app installs not only can help boost app store rankings, but also can make app rank higher in the search result. Data show that nearly 70% people download an app through searching in the app store. If your app have a large amounts installs, your app will come in the top few in the search result. You can ask your friends, classmates and families help, let them download your app.
Get more positive reviews and high star ratings
App reviews and ratings play an essential part in app promotion, which can affect your app installs and ranking in app store. Thus, to promote an Android app, getting more app high-quality reviews and 4/5-star ratings are necessary for app developers. I highly recommend you buy app reviews and ratings from a reliable company
Put your app on mobile app review sites
This method means that you have to find some reliable app reviews sites, putting your app on them to guide users to install your app. But you have to guarantee your app’s quality is good enough to be reviewed by audiences. When you reach out, you have to provide some support material of your app, like app links, summary, screenshots, video, etc. If your app received more positive reviews in these sites, you will gain a tons of traffic and installs.
Create blog accounts
Make full use of social media, create blog accounts and write some information about your app. Running these accounts, do not only write about your app, also write some funny jokes or stories to attract fans. Also remember often contact with fans, community with them, ask the advantages and disadvantages of your app, then you can improve it. And ask them help, let them advertise your app to their friends.
Searching some targeted keywords in Google and find the relevant blog about your app. Then, add a valued comment at below with valuable insight and your app link. Typically, this method is used in internet marketer space. But you can also use this method to gain high-quality relevant links and traffic to your app and landing page.
Hope my answer can help you~
How much marketing budget do you have? It's incredibly difficult to get organic growth in the very beginning (once you have a following and establish word of mouth it becomes much easier).
You really need to have some sort of paid strategy in place. Even if it's small. I've had campaigns bring in downloads for $0.50-$1 each. I would put a couple $100 into ad spend each month and gradually grow the user base. Once you've done that for a few months, you can use tools like "Facebook Audience Insights" to look at the demographic data of the people who have downloaded the app.
Once you have that data, you can think of influencers, communities, etc that you can work with to find ideal customers. Until you have data on people who actually download, it's very difficult to get any kind of organic growth.
That's if the app is free. If there is already a revenue model in place, you can scale your paid efforts and work on referral campaigns.
