What is the best recommended online course for Internet Marketing?

The future of business is online - both the internet and social media. And those who know how to leverage the power of being online - make money. I have been constantly searching for a worthwhile online internet marketing course. Sadly, most of them are nothing but hype and recycled material from Self-Improvement gurus. Is there any worthwhile content rich course that gives best value for money?

Please advice.

Hi Loy, this might sound like a cliche, but I think the best way to learn is by starting one yourself. You will probably lose some money and you will probably lose some time, but the lesson you learn will be invaluable. Just my opinion.

There are two issues here, 1 The online strategy. 2 How to implement that? I find the first one more related to marketing because the second one is more about technicality.

When you find out what type of relationship you wanna have with your target audiences and what do you want to tell them the rest can be translate to your website CEO, social media and etc.

But as you see google have its own online course for CEO and each social media like Facebook has its own different features. So basically I saying you don't need to know all of these things you only need to know the basic concepts then you can focus on your online strategy and outsource the implementation. Because digital marketing requires a teamwork.

To answer your question in another way:

Stick to what you already know test it with low cost (as it is possible in online world) fail early, fail fast and learn from it. Most the course out there can't teach you because there are endless possible scenarios in reality.

Hi Loy, if you outcome is getting familiar with the Digital Marketing concepts and most used technologies, I found Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree very helpful. The course has been designed by professional experts, with the collaboration of Google, Facebook, Moz and other firms. I found particularly useful the hands-on exercises, where you design, create and run a campaign spending a budget. At the end of the course you are not an expert of course, but you have a good knowledge about the fundamentals, and you know what you have to do to go ahead.

I also found Udacity's Digital Marketing Nanodegree very helpful. I found that instruction from folks with a lot of experience in digital marketing paired with hands on experience (including live advertising campaigns with real money, paid for by Udacity) was a great way for me to learn. The course is incredibly well organized as well.

Loy, to be more precise, the future of business INCLUDES online. There are elements that will never be online, but having an APPROPRIATE online component is already essential.

The question itself reveals what else you need to learn about, like the 8 divisions of marketing. That's not media divisions, it's actual functional sets of skills in different areas of marketing. Before you look for an online course, you need to determine which of those skill sets you're attempting to enhance with online strategy and tactics.

Next you'll choose the marketing philosophy you believe in. It makes a difference. Outbound, inbound, field, content, they have overlapping labels, but these philosophies alter the list of tools you'll want to learn to use. The vocabulary is similar, but the differences between content marketing and advertising are vast. You may even decide you want to narrow your focus to just one tool in one type of marketing or for one specific industry.

It's difficult to offer a specific recommendation that is meaningful without knowing more about what you plan to do with your newly acquired skills, such as where you want to apply them.

Where do I think you could build some widely useful skills that are current and relevant? Perhaps start with HubSpot. Inbound/content marketing is a relatively new focus for a lot of companies, and the folks at HubSpot have a seriously rigorous training program. Some certifications are free, some cost money. Start with a free one and see if the system is for you. If nothing else you'll learn a lot about one area of marketing.

My own view is customer, customer, customer.

Know where they go, what they use, what they want, and most importantly.

Can you answer the one question they care about?

customer : "How can you help me?"

you: "I can help you become X, or do Y, or solve your biggest problem Z."

The rest is irrelevant.

The AirBnB guys, spent the first year, standing outside hostels and hustling to get feedback on their app, to see how to get customers. (that's where their first customers were) And visiting the people who put their homes on, to see how to make it better for them.

Lesson: Go where your customers are, talk to them, make a sale, improve.
