Hello, I have been thinking about this idea for a few weeks now and feel its a good idea. Want to get some opinions from fellow entrepreneurial enthusiasts. Let me know what you think of it.
- I want to introduce a footrub ball - I am calling it CorkBerry. www.CorkBerry.com will sell these balls at 5 bucks a pop. ( the product is not live yet )
The ball is made of cork and natural rubber and has spikes on it. It can be used for relaxation after a long day, helps with body ache's and foot pain. It can also be used to alleviate pain in wrists or neck. I am a big believer in accupressure and have used it successfully to heal myself from many issues.
I have used commercially sold spike balls but feel they are too stiff and are tacky.
Cork is used because of its softness and added with rubber makes it a soft yet durable product.
The Good -
- I feel that there arent many people out there who have heard of a footrub ball. Also, this can be an interesting play as a gift ( sub 5 dollar product sold online) and for people who are tired of sitting all day or driving for long hours and need some relaxation without spending much money.
- I Own the domain for for this product - CorkBerry.com ( which i think is apt)
- Its a relatively inexpensive product, could make for a nice shopify store.
- There are companies out there which resell recycled cork in bulk, that can be used for this product.
- There is competition, but currently none has executed this product very well.
- Prototyping might be expensive.

In my opinion, this product has high market potential because:
1. Today, most people are afflicted with psychosomatic illness, muscle and joint pains being high.
2. Concept has effective solution.
3. Product cost is affordable
4. Market is huge and broad
5. Natural/alternative therapy centres are gaining popularity and acceptance world over.
Aforesaid reason apart there are more that makes it an ideal product. However, there are cases where the best of products and services have failed due to wrong strategy and inefficiency in the marketing process.
If it is presented more as a concept than a product chances of success is high. However, time to bring about sustainable results that you have in mind is too short and impractical.
Typically from my experience, you should build a prototype, try to see if you can sell it. You will pivot, find differentiators that you can use to carve out your own space. And then if you are able to market and sell it, you will be ok. Each of these stages has its own challenges ofcourse and 6 weeks is probably too less for trying anything. You will almost certainly give up in a short time frame like that. Try more like 6 months. Marketing, selling etc. will be your bigger challenges.
A good example is the dollarshaveclub and how they penetrated that saturated market.
I walk... a lot. My feet hurt all day, every day. I'd try any product that can help.
I like your idea. You should get a few doctors to back you idea and give quotes.
Make sure your product can be put in a freezer.
Cons: 1) The market is saturated; 2) It will cost a ton to educate & re-educate the masses on what makes your ball better; and, 3) it looks like other products have incorporated cork before.

Some good ideas are just not good enough at the moment you want them to be.
My cousin is a yoga medicine teacher. She has workshops teaching myofascia release and she uses myofascia balls or even lacrosse balls. If you can make some prototypes and send them to yoga medicine instructors (you can find more information about yoga medicine on https://yogamedicine.com/ - no, this is not my cousin but Tiffany Cruickshank is her teacher), I think you'll know pretty quickly if it's a viable product.

It‘s worthwhile to keep exploring if you think competition has not executed this properly. You will need to make sure your product’s value is different, obvious and big enough for the consumers to trial your product. Do consumer research, and incorporate findings in prototype. If the market is saturated, my suggestion will be to find a niche within this product category and answer their unmet need rather than going for entire pie. Pleasing everyone is always difficult. You also want to leverage the niche’s WOM at the beginning if your budget is limited.
you cannot know the pro and cons of anything without doing it personally. In my opinion you must give it a try with small scale so that you will understand the actual facts in this business with its product/service.
figuring out the defects you can try to solve the problem and develop a market for it.
as the product is related to health, body, mind i think there is always a market for it but you have to understand your customer and there need.
For this the best way is :
1) do some research on product and its market
2) how market behave.
3) build a prototype and try it on beta
4) then iterate and grow it from there .
