What are the best tools to create engaging infographics for your blog posts?

April 22nd, 2015

The favorite advice of content marketers today probably is "show, don’t tell”. Blogs are full of beautiful images, graphs or the new trend: convincing infographics. What are your best-practice tools to easily create great infographics for blog posts?

I would strongly advise against any automated or semi-automated approach to infographics. They have become a commoditized marketing tactic, and as a result, most infographics are really really bad.

Instead of thinking "infographics," your real goal should be considering what information could benefit from visual representation, and how you might best visually represent that information.

My suggestion would be to work with designers with a strong background in data visualizations and information design. Also, what's always more important than the way something is visually represented, is what is actually being said.

A crappy infographic on new and exciting research is worth more than a beautiful infographic on something old/rehashed.

Focus on using design to make information consumption easier and more fun/engaging.

Try using a contractor on fiverr. Some specialize in infographics. Just be careful to weed thru the bottom feeders.
