What are the best live chat widgets for web sites?

I'd like to install a live chat widget for our web site mostly for acquisition and engagement. I see that there are a lot of similar products out there. So far I've looked at Intercom and LiveChat. They seem to be used quite a bit in the tech world. Any other alternatives people can suggest? Mobile is key as I want to be able to have conversations from my iPhone. Also, in a B2B setting, how effective are these live chat tools? Do visitors actually use them vs. filling in a lead form or calling? I tried live chat in another business back in 2012 and turned it off after 6 months as we had almost no activity with it. But maybe times have changed.

There are some free website chat widgets to make your site interactive.

1 - Chatango: Chatango is a customizable chat room add-on that anybody can install in their website. The main advantage of using this website chat widget is that users can have their own avatar.

2 - is a product of — a popular web-based IM platform service. 3 - JWChat: JWChat is an Ajax-powered chat script. It only uses JavaScript and HTML, making it an ideal solution for those who want to quickly get a chat widget up and running.

4 - CBox: CBox attempts to merge the features of traditional desktop IM clients with the benefits of the social web. The user interface is straightforward, the installation is a snap, and is plug-and-play because it only relies on client-side JavaScript and HTML.

Live chats work best on people who often use there mobiles. Its better for serious investors however the Internet charges in some countries are not favourable hence limiting live chats. Go ahead friend.

Yes, times have changed. In an increasingly demanding customer service environment, you need to maximize customer satisfaction through keeping the options for live chat available. 5 years ago, I used to find live chat requests when visiting a website kind of annoying, but now, I look for it to get immediate answers. You should keep it simple, and actually have someone behind the chat answers the clients' questions. Keep in mind, all that depend on your industry ( if your competitors do it) and the type of customers ( if they need instant answers).

I will say times have changed, and a live chat option seems to improve conversion rate by a decent % in a B2C, but I don't know if there is a solid research out there that supports massive improvement in a B2B. I wouldn't be surprised though if it does. That being said, I definitely think it is worth a try out. Since is free for the most part (I use them), and it is mobile friendly, I think it is worth testing out with the free version and if it works, and there is a latter need for payments, you can compare it with the other paid options out there.
