Tips for finding retail distributors when expanding internationally?

I am working with an up-and-coming sunglasses brand in the United States to build out our international distribution channels.  We're a social impact brand, which in our case means a portion of our revenues from each pair of sunglasses sold goes toward working with a nonprofit partner to donate a pair of eyeglasses or fund part of a sight-restoring cataract surgery.  All of our manufacturing is done in Italy, and we are trying to build relationships with retail distributors here in Europe so that we can operate at scale with a shorter supply chain.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

best route I think is a booth at a tradeshow, distributors will frequent the isles, you should walk the isles too
