PR agencies for driving digital traffic- Recommendations? PR for Startups Agency?

I have been working on digital advertising/PR to drive traffic to my Indiegogo campaign. I tried a firm associated with Naxxoo and although we just started, I'm not seeing much of a boost yet. I discovered a firm called "PR for Startups" on the net and their home page suggests you need a referral to contact them. Has anyone tried them?

Are there any other firms people have used and been happy with? Would love to get a boost in short term.

Thanks for the advice!

My honest suggestion having been down this path a few times is that you need to tackle the PR head on in-house(for a start-up). You are going to have the same results you are having with another PR firms.  You will be paying out and have slow results. No one will represent a start-up like its founders.

Get on social media.

Volunteer for interviews. Everywhere.

If you cannot write hire a freelance writer. Spread your PR over prweb and other similar PR sites. Help-a- reporter-out etc.
-Note: if you hire a freelance writer find one that has already had success with the media outlets you want to get into.

Find industry sites.  They all have a way to submit articles and PR. Yes, it's hard to get picked up but it's free.

Create a Slide Share presentation. They rank well for SEO proposes.

There are other more in-depth marketing tactics that you can use but these basic ones should get you started.  It's hard for all the initial PR from a start-up to get momentum so start asap! Good Luck! : )

Hi Candace - I have a friend who can build a massive influencer list for you, design a series of emails, automate them and update influencers on your topic or industry throughout with content that they can share. I've used him over and over again to garner product reviews, get listed in round ups, drive website traffic etc. It takes a few days but I've found this process to be much better than retaining a PR firm. Give me a call if you want to know more: 206-427-6263 I haven't met a PR firm that can drive traffic as quickly as this guy. Arik

A friend of mine, Joel Andren, has a startup called PressFriendly ( that is attempting to do PR as a service. His goal is to provide startups with a much more affordable and effective tool for getting the word out about what's going on with their company.
