The home page was pretty confusing. I didn't know what I was looking at, or what the purpose of the site was. You have a bunch of random articles, some with stretched images and then a word cloud to the right. I didn't understand the organization of the site.

Then there was an option to sign in or register on the top right....but I didn't know why I would need to do either of those. What is the benefit of creating an account on your page?

There is a lot of dead space to the left, because the website is not centered to the page. It also breaks when you scale down your browser window. The captions do not flow very well either when scaling the page.

I am very disappointing that I could log in via a simple SQL injection string (this shouldn't happen these days). You really need to hire a better back-end developer. I posted an article to the "security" category (about SQL injection).

I like CMS-style sites; in fact, I'm making one myself. What makes yours different to sites like Medium? Are you built on WordPress? If so, what makes your site different to the millions of other blogs on WP?

I echo many of the issues presented with your website. Here are my thoughts:

  • No succinct purpose or stated purpose when arriving on your site. You must answer why this site is important and state what it is trying to accomplish. My personal opinion is the about-us page is really what should be at the top of your initial index page.
  • About-us should be who you are your experience, work, life whatever. Why you and your team are qualified to present this information.
  • No call to action - Always have a call to action i.e. newsletter sign up, blog site, message boards. always have the call to action above the fold on the index page.
  • Create an account - Highly recommend a captcha or other human authentication
  • Content - You are simply linking to other content and its only a single article. Try creating your own content and get creative!
  • Finally, don't give up..follow your dream and dream big!

You're off to a great start! The site looks pretty cool. I just noticed two things right away that could be improved. Please see http://prntscr.com/jwj26d for a reference

  1. There should be more space between the search bar and the logo. It's a bit congested.
  2. Maybe align the body width and the header width? The logo looks like it's farther left than the body content.

Overall, I think you have a solid foundation. The home page could be a bit more clear, and you defiantly want to add a call-to-action. I tried to go to your site before reading your comment on what the purpose was, and I found that it was hard to actually understand what the site was for. After reading your comment it made sense, but my point is that it should be a bit more clear for someone who does not have a background on what the site is for.
