Can we easily have a mobile app to implement our E-Commerce website built on woocommerce/magento/virtuemart... Or is it better to design your own HTML5 from scratch with software like cordova?
It depends on the feafures you require and degree of customisation. If extensive a custom app probably better. But if you just want to reproduce magento site i've done that and add forms and standard featureds ive done that and it works fine.
There are ways to incorporate e-commerce functions into a web site that don't require writing your own secure code. Tools like WordPress and Magento make web development easy, but use of such platforms is also incredibly obvious and some would argue déclassé. My suggestion overall is to confine your use of boxed products to handling the complexities of the e-commerce portion of your business, and to build the entirety of the rest of your web site by hand. It doesn't matter if it's HTML5.
Cordova is for mobile app development, not web development. My preference 100:1 is for web apps, not mobile apps. I am entirely unwilling to install almost anything new on my device. But I am willing to use a web app any day. Plus you don't have the cost multiplier of having to develop the app for each and every type of device and OS version you want it to run on. Unless there is some critical reason to be a mobile app (like you need a function of the device, such as camera) to do your thing, then please be a web app.
Thanks for your answer. As per now, I see that most of the people (Mostly in my region, India) prefer to download mobile application. Further, mobile apps would make the company more memorable when installed.
I want to have a temporary solution where I could at least route a user towards the website right through the app.
