Is “Badging” for a digital learning platform scaleable?

Working on a digital learning platform for the EdTech industry and am debating whether or not to include badging in my software. I keep hearing mixed reviews of whether or not incorporating badging is scaleable and adds recognition. Would like to hear others thoughts on whether or not badging is a good idea for an EdTech digital learning platform? Pros/Cons

Natalie, We believe that badging works for everyone under 35. if they get a badge they are more likely to retweet it and have others ask them about the badge or check out the link. it is more work for you but the social media feed for you can be tremendous as long as you make it simple for them to pass on.

Hey Natalie,

It's completely scalable and I've found badging to be a great form of recognition and motivation for students in my own classrooms.  Maybe even have teachers create their own badges?
classbadges.com was founded completely on the concept of badging and sees a lot of traction.  You may want to talk to them about incorporating their product with your platform before you build something yourself.
