How do I find clients/partners for our software company?

Hi guys!

I'm working in a German company that does digitalization, software/hardware development and consulting.

We have our own ERP/CRM software but also develop softwares. we take fairly small costs but deliver high quality softwares and exist since 1994.

Now we do have an office in Manhattan for some years now (I'm pretty new in this company so I've never really visited it) and had a couple of projects back in the years but that was it.

Its been a couple of years that we didn't really do anything in the states cause we focused on our German clients but would like to expand now.

The best part: if I get enough customers outside Germany, i'll be transferred to NYC.

For that to happen, I obviously need to do research as its always been my dream to live in the states.

My questions are therefor:

how do I find company's that are in need of softwares or freelancers?

how do I find partners?

how do I best find them? (social media, by calling, by mailing?)

who do I go for when calling/mailing?

what's the best time to do so?

and lastly, do you think a small (20 people atm) German company has a chance to reach something over there?

I know, many questions, but I really wanna do everything right to get to my goal of finally to the states. So any good ideas on how to find clients?

thank you for helping me and taking the time!

Kind regards from Germany

Hi Mina,

below is my personal opinion but you can ignore if its not relevant

how do I find company's that are in need of softwares or freelancers?

Need is magic word, every company needs technology support but how to find right opportunity is through two ways ,one is through open bidding by company or career opportunity pages and what kind of business they do and other is through business networking with a CTO or CEO or a contract purchaser of any companies.

from my perspective ,its the line of business experience matters most,ie if you are in health care then health care matters most.

how do I find partners?

All major vendors has partner portal,if you choose a product to seel, you can enroll yourself to a product developer partner

how do I best find them? (social media, by calling, by mailing?)

by location and news sites

who do I go for when calling/mailing?

Calling is best but very difficult as you may not get response in one shot

what's the best time to do so?

I think best time would be mornings

and lastly, do you think a small (20 people atm) German company has a chance to reach something over there?

Hello you two - I have been trying to figure out how to respond to your replies - I haven't been able to.

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time and giving me the information I need. It's good to know that I can go by different ways.

to answer @Bob Blue - we don't really have an "ideal" of a client, since we do individual development - meaning we do have our own software which already does everything any company needs, but can also add more to their likings.

For example: we have done work for bigger German Automobile Brands but also for the Government or Schools.

So really almost everyone can be our client.

Again, I thank and appreciate you for answering and helping me!
