We are looking at TechStars Toronto as an option and wondering if anyone has gone through TechStars and what they think of the program?
Specifically wondering what didn't work and what they didn't like.
We are really looking for the access to the network.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Afi, we (SpotCrowd.com) did the Techstars Retail program! Awesome experience. You will get fantastic opportunities to get in contact with big customers and investors. We experienced lots of highs but also lows. Not only does your business idea need to be spot on .... its also a big test for your team.
Its a rollercoaster ride! Will happy to discus more and share insights if you have specific questions. And yes, if you have the chance .... go for it. Alexander
Techstars offers a list of their clients. Approach them directly. Ask tough questions about what they expected versus what they received. And what was expected of them too. People who choose Techstars are not likely to take an interest in a more passive system like CFL, so aren't likely to be located in the Discussion forums either.
Accelerator programs are a tiny fraction of incubator programs. They generally require the startup to be well-established and poised for a growth phase, not be in the pre-launch stage. If you look at the statistics of who joins CFL, there is a tiny fraction who are post-launch relative to those who are pre-launch or simply in idea phase. Someone ready for an accelerator isn't going to be looking for a co-founder anymore.
