There is a start-up visa program in Canada to be offered to innovative start-ups. It looks neat at the first glance, but in details it is pretty cumbersome and expensive, taking much time and effort. I would appreciate anyone's experience of going through and/or looking closely into it.

Is there a particular reason why are you looking at the start-up visa option? Canada has immigration procedure that is pretty straight forward and applications are usually processed within reasonable time.

I don't know about expensive - but the only route is to get accepted to one of the incubators/accelerators/angels/VC programmes listed on CIC's website.

If you go through each of them you will find a widely varying range of criteria ranging from very specific applications with very specific questions and requirements to wide open "send us your info" to no info at all.

TechStars Toronto is probably the most well understood of these.

In response to Peter V there are a number of criteria (age in particular) that can make standard Express Entry not a feasible route to go.
