Hi guys,

We're now reviewing our idea for educational app development, one of the questions is related to the mobile app promotion. As far as educational apps are usually less popular than games it is harder to promote the app within the store, so we wonder if there are any specific programs offered by Apple and Google that allow educational solutions to get to featured lists?

I am sorry that the answer is no. But here are some methods which can help make your educational app get featured on the app store, maybe it is useful for you, you can have a try.

Create a high quality educational app - Only high quality app can gain it position in the app store. There is no one app store want to recommend a low quality app to users, this behavior will damage App store’s reputation. So before launching the app in the app store. Ensure it is a high quality one. After launching, fix bugs and update version in time.

Create a unique educational app - App developers not only need to design a high-quality app but also design a unique app to help your app stand out from other competitors and attract more users. This method will help to get your app featured.

Familiar with the rules of the Apple Store - After launching a high quality app, app developers should know how and what kind of apps get chosen as features. Download the apps which are already be featured on the app store, and analyze the apps’ advantages, learn the useful things from it. And also know about the rules of what kind of app does app store featured.

Localize your app - Make sure to localize your app in countries and languages your app supports. Because app localization is the process of adapting your app to a particular language and culture, which will help to boost app ranking and increase downloads.

Gain more positive reviews and high-star ratings - Reviews and ratings are the most important factors which can represent users experience. Most apps with good reviews and 4-5 star ratings are featured on App Store.

Get more downloads - The number of downloads is another factor taken into account by Apple when selecting featured apps. High downloads mean people like and need your app. If your app gets high downloads, it is more likely that it will get featured by Apple.

Update your app frequently

Constantly updating your product to add new features maybe helpful for getting your app featured on App Store.

Unfortunately, the answer is no. But you can make you apps get featured on the app store with the following methods(taking apple app store as example):

The Quality Of Your App Is Tantamount - This point seems a little obvious, make sure your app is actually good.

Understand What Apple Wants - If you understand what app wants, your app will be highly likely to be featured.

Design your app like Apple - To make sure your app meets their standards, check out the iOS Human Interface Guidelines.

Make your app universal - Make sure your app works for all iOS products: iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Use Apple's latest features - Develop your app with new technology followed by Apple, like new APIs and 3D games.

Keep your ratings & downloads up - Appbot found that over half of featured apps have high user ratings–4.5 or higher. So manage your user ratings in a good shape. Besides invite users to rate your app, you can also get app ratings from third parties, like buyappratings, if you place a rating order, you can get the same number of installs for free at the same time, really cost effective.

Update frequently - If you want to get your app featured on App Store, you’d better update your app frequently, especially on special occasions like the Christmas Day and New Year etc.

Hope those methods are useful to you.

Each app store has en Education section. This section is vetted way more than normal apps, for obvious reasons. So, when you submit your educational app to each store, there are more chance you might be featured as there are less educational apps, than normal apps.

My 2 cents.

Best of lucks!

Thanks Joanan, this makes sense, but I wonder if there is a possibility to get more recognition outside of the specific educational section to drag those users who don't usually check educational apps
