What's the best way to create a video ad? Do you hire a production company? Any other alternatives? What budget should I expect to spend? Just to clarify, this is not a "how it works" video, more of a video commercial ...

Hi Kristina - I happen to think that online video is incredibly powerful. The stats on recall, increased purchase intent etc are pretty definitive. Of course, my business is a production house for small to mid size co's, so I'm biased. If you're thinking about creating adverts for your company I'd love to help you with that. Obvi, we want your business, but I'm also happy to talk you through the process and some of the things you may not have considered about how best to start using video in your communications strat. Kristina, I personally know the award-winning author, producer, marketer and social media guru behind Cole Stryker not only produces beautiful video content but also has the distribution strategy behind it. This ensures the right eyes (at large scale) get to see it and with his deep blogger and journalist connections he gets the video covered as a story by industry-leading and highly-relevant publications. More than happy to provide a personal introduction if needed. Sent from my iPhone

I used and They both've a bidding model where you can set your start a project and set your budget. Film makers/studios can then place a bid, you can interview them, etc. Best, Rahul

Hi Kristina,

I've owned an animated video production company for the past 4 years and I've heard similar questions time and time again. Video is a complex beast, especially if you're tackling it for the first time. There are a lot of things to consider not only around production, but also strategy, effective messaging, distribution, and measuring and tracking success (which is different for everyone).  The main concerns around production are typically: time, money, message and video type (live or animated). Based on a little more information from you, I could help send you in the right direction. My new start-up, Theme Dragon creates affordable animated videos starting at $700. This isn't suitable for all video needs, but if you'd like to chat please let me know. Even if Theme Dragon isn't the right fit, I could suggest some other resources based on a little more info around your budget and overall goals.

Hi Kristina, I own and run a branded content company that focuses fundamentally in video/motion storytelling and editorial content creation (  As mentioned above by Megan, cost of production of video content has many variables;  we currently work on projects for B2B tech clients, lifestyle brands across Asia and globally as well as for most large cable and satellite television networks (Nat Geo, Discovery, NBCU) to name a few.  Do drop me a quick note on and we could arrange for a quick chat.
