Best place to locate Series B/C investors

Mark Elder CTO of a post-launch SaaS MarTech venture

March 2nd, 2017

I am the CTO of a post-launch SaaS venture with paying customers but in need of working capital to expand operations and capabilities. What is the best way to connect with investors interested in Series B+ stage ventures.

Thanks for all ideas/advice.

Attend all the venture events in your area and regionally. People invest in both businesses and people. On paper you may look good, but they want to know if they like you and the team. Use Crunchbase and Angel List to screen for funds that like what you do. You may have to expand to the Bay area. Be good at the 60 second pitch (take the opportunity to do every pitch session you can even if you think it will not be the best place. You need the practice. We all do.) and talk to as many people you can. Start it soon. Keep doing it until you get a check.

If you have revenue and have already raised a VC backed Series A, as long as you have met the metrics laid out in that first financing, your Series A investors are the next best investment. If there are other variables involved there is no simple answer to your question. It is case specific. Feel free to contact me to brainstorm.

Just noticed you are in the answer may be more applicable to the UK and Europe though there may be similar schemes and services available in the states.

Depending how much you have raised already (SEIS and/or EIS really help get traction) / want to raise you could consider the equity crowdfunding platforms such as Seedrs, CrowdCube, SyndicateRoom etc...alternatively if you have good analytics around cost of user acquisition, churn etc and can demonstrate you have a scaleable business my understanding is that's where VCs will start to get interested.
