I have used Curetogether for many years. I have found good value, but 'sticky' enough to use it continuously. I dont know if that is the competition you speak of. There is room to do a better product I would think. And it is actually good to see some competition, from an investor's perspective. If you have experience, skills, a comprehensive solution that provides better value than competitors and a unwaveringg passion to make your idea real, then you should give it a shot.
Kind of like Zuckerman asking if he should be given up due to Yahoo or Excite or any of the other competition at the . Differentiate, focus, strategize, and sell sell sell. There is always room at the top for those who can do it better who are willing to do what's necessary to get momentum.
Competition is not a bad thing. Mark Zuckerberg didn't let MySpace stop him, and Steve Jobs didn't let IBM keep him from building a computer.
You know you gotta keep on. You should study this alternate biz,see why you think its better and try to make improvements. Obvious. There is google,and the world still has space for bing.
Keep in mind that features don't define the winning product. Marketing and sales do.

I agree with comments about competition. People is actually expecting to see competition in all industries, markets and services. Most consumers are not necessarily onto finding the best products and features, most of the time is about what product they can identify with, what services understand their situations, who speak their languages, what differentiation is really remarkable in certain segment of the market, what are competitors doing and giving in other to winning them, and what kind of clients is the company really looking to serve. If you find that your company is selling, serving a need, having income you still feel satisfied with, and you like to be a part of, I still see a viable business. Don't give your share of the big pie to the competition if you still can get at least an interesting piece.
As consumers we get bored buying on the same places. Even if looking for the same products and services, we tend to shift over diversity. Power, egos and needs play a role in competing businesses.

How many music bands are there in this world? They all have the same "features" but the funny thing is they didn't quit just because all bands have the same features.
How about Pepsi? There's Coca-Cola you know... :)
My point is, people don't buy features, they buy experiences. I would say the best thing you can do is to position yourself differently than your competition, find an angle that can help you differentiate and appeal to a segment of the market.
